QUOTES - TEACHERS

What was your opinion of the Speak Up! Experience?

Joe Mckinney - Deputy Headmaster, Danes Hill School

"The Speak Up team was a real success. The children were energised and found the sessions both useful and rewarding"

Jan Smith - Director of Studies, Kingswood House School

"The morning was led by three dynamic young people who were clear and concise in their giving of instructions and who were able to empathise with the views of the boys and use appropriate language to reach even the most reluctant participant.

There was a good selection of diverse activities which appealed to the kinaesthetic, auditory and visual senses. They had a video introduction, the tasks that they were asked to do were reinforced visually and they had plenty of hands-on activities, both writing and presenting. The morning was well-structured. The activities were changed regularly and each trainer took on a different aspect of the course.

I think that 'Speak Up!' is a valuable resource that can be used by pupils from years 6 – 11 and 16+. It can be adapted to fit each age range and the time allocation varied to suit different age ranges."

Ellie Miles - Gifted and Talented and AimHigher Co-coordinator, Paddington Academy

"The Speak Up! team successfully led the sessions and students enjoyed working with them. Their work and teaching style was rated as excellent by students.

The students enjoyed the sessions and expressed their interest in participating in more events like this.

The students at Paddington Academy:

  • Worked in teams team which gave them the opportunity to develop their interpersonal skills.
  • Learned how to express their ideas and Speak Up! They felt more confident to talk in front of an audience and express their views.
  • Developed their reasoning skills - being able to listen to others attentively was one of the main outcomes of the day."
